On the Japanese food table, you should set the chopsticks in front of you horizontally. Make sure your bowl close to your mouth when you eat rice. It's a polite way to eat, I think that it's avoiding the grain of rice falls. You may sipping the soup to describe how delicious that food is. Before dinner, just give 5 minutes to have a little conversation in Japanese language then say "Ita-da-ki-masu" which has same meaning with 'Bon Appetite". And when you done, you should say "Go-chiso-sama" which means thanks for the dish. Beside that, you should return the chopsticks like before.
You would never do those following :
- Talking with unclear topic
- Sniffing in front of Japanese
- Licking the chopsticks and stabbing the foods by it, because that will give the impression of not appreciate the foods
